WA...petrol increase!!! Extreme measures to save money....

When my bro called me to tell me the petrol price was going to increase to RM2.70, i rushed to petrol station immediately after class. To my horror, there were already three very long ques in the small petrol station nearby my house. In the end, it took me 1 hour to pump my car. And that was before the announcement.

Anyway, in light of the increase, i've decided to take these steps in order to save more cash to feed pump my car:

1. Roti for breakfast and lunch. Dinner at home. I will pack sandwiches for lunch the previous night for me to bring to uni. Actually, i've been doing this even before the increase due to the all the gatherings . But now, after the increase, i think i have to switch the usual wholewheat bread to plain bread.

2. Skip class if there's only one class on that day. My timetable this semester is really dumb. For two days a week, i have one class per day only. Fridays and wednesdays. So, i have to get up early and brace the stupid morning jam to reach the class, and it usually took me 45 mins to reach uni. Sits in class for 1 hour and 30mins (sometimes one hour only) and then another 45 mins to travel back. Stupid isn't it? Well, i've been doing that for a few times now But not every week la, i'll skip on alternate weeks..

3. Less outings and dinners in restaurant. Even if mum didn't cook on that day, i'll cook Maggi, unless of course it's a special occasion. This also means less mamak, movie and shopping. At least now, i have excuse not to attend gatherings i don't want to go

4. Less SMSes and phone calls. SMS and call only when necessary and urgent. Things like forwarded sms and silly talks on phone are big no-nos.

5. Open to suggestions.

So, what do you think? Any suggestions on things i could work on to save more $$$?

taking the bus is a good idea, but our public transport like tahi lah.

i recommend: take cold showers and save water & electricity. so far only the saving water/ electricity thing worked for me. i cannot tahan not bathing with warm water lol.

Taking plain bread is definetely not a wise way to save...Is wrong 2 save money liddat...Meal is wat giving us a good health. Can choose to take breakfast in home before going class..Taking home pack food is good but not plain bread in it...Take something more healthy from home...Maybe can suggest ur mum 2 cook heavy breakfast so u can take 2 class..
Skip class 4 a few times still can acceptable but not alternate...Can choose 2 study at library after class or do ur homework after class or even making group study on dat 2 days so you wont feel so angry...
Less outing and dinners in restaurant is what u shud start skipping long time ago..But not to ingnore all d times cz outing bring fun 2 our life..Plz no maggie cz nowdays maggie is not cheap even..There is many simple food u can cook in home by alone..such as fried rice, mee, bihun or other thing which are 100 times better den maggie.Dont ever take saving as an excuse 2 sideline ur health..
VERY VERY BAD...
Yes...
Silly talk shud be avoid but sms still can accepted cz sms rate very low nowdays..Send sms instead of calling can actually save abit if not alot..
Take care of ur health...That is more important then everything...There are many better ways to save money then Plain Bread,Maggie and Alternate Skip Class...

ben, to use public transport to get to uni, i need to drive to take a bus to ktm train station. Then, i will have to change train to LRT in KL sentral. After that, another bus to my uni. So, it will take me at least an hour on non-peak hours...

Vmae, Ben, cold showers???!!! u guys must be crazy...

anonymous, thanks for the advice... but then hor, i eat plain bread WITH something inside, like egg mayo or tuna etc...so, i think it's not as bad as u say la..other than tat, i only eat maggi twice a month lor..

best way...after earning a little bit extra... leave the country... Other countries treat foreigners better than how gov treat the minorities.
